A young guy in his 50’s talked for 12 min and then for 4 months I was talking about bamboo 12 times a day. As long as we have artists and designers, we innovate new ways to make the society better. Designers are always looking for new material to suit market demand. With great efforts we are building awareness about sustainability and the environmental effect of human’s approach towards making things.
Tribe’s have developed ways to survive with minimal harm to nature. Bamboo has been a solution to many of their problems in tribal communities from North-east, Assam, to Bastar and central India till Kerala.
Bamboo is being preferred due to its versatility. It is durable, light weight, easily available, cost efficient and most importantly eco-friendly.It has been used in medicines, construction, textile, paper, furniture, fuel, cooking, musical instruments, decoration and many other fields as a raw material.
The Government has also started focusing on the revival of the underdeveloped bamboo industry. Assistance is being provided for skill development, research and development, generating awareness starting from the production of bamboo and also in catering the current market demand.
In the near future we can see materials like metal, wood and plastic being replaced by the eco-friendly bamboo in the day to day life. The future of humanity is completely dependent on how we grow without damaging nature and also being able to meet our needs.
